Cloacina, Goddess of Drains

Cloacina (pronounced "Klo ah CHEE nah") is the first Roman Goddess of sewers and drains. (from the Latic cloaca, "sewer") This may at first sound rediculous, until you take into account the necessity of such a Goddess and Her powers in a large, crowded city such as Rome or Athens.

Whose sable streams beneath the city glide
Indulged the modish flame, the town she roved,
A mortal scavenger she saw she loved.”
